A cancer diagnosis can bring up worry, anxiety, and fear not only for the patient, but also for the patient’s support persons. During the past 22 years, I have had the honor of working with cancer patients and their support persons with the goal of reducing the intensity of those stressful emotions and improving the overall quality of life for everyone impacted by the cancer.
Other health-related concerns can be as devastating as cancer. Living with uncomfortable, painful, and debilitating symptoms can be exhausting and overwhelming. Psychotherapy can help to enhance one’s ability to cope with difficult symptoms, reduce the intensity of distressing emotions, and nurture an authentic sense of well-being and quality of life.
