A cancer diagnosis can bring profound uncertainty and emotional distress, not only for the person diagnosed, but also for the family members, friends, and loved ones who are part of their support system. Fear, anxiety, sadness, anger, and a sense of overwhelm are common responses to the many changes and uncertainties that cancer can bring.
For more than 26 years, I have had the honor of supporting people affected by cancer as they navigate diagnosis, treatment, recovery, recurrence, and the many emotional challenges that can arise along the way. Therapy can provide a place to process difficult emotions, adjust to changes, strengthen coping strategies, and focus on what matters most while living with the realities of cancer.
Other chronic health conditions can also profoundly affect a person’s life. Living with ongoing pain, fatigue, uncertainty, or other debilitating symptoms can be exhausting and isolating. Psychotherapy can help you develop ways to cope with difficult circumstances, work through distressing emotions, reconnect with your strengths, and nurture a meaningful sense of well-being and quality of life.
